Key Requirements
- Fall protection required at 7.5 ft from unprotected sides/edges in construction (lower than the federal 6 ft for some operations; higher trigger for steel erection)
- Personal fall-arrest systems must arrest a fall with maximum arresting force ≤1,800 lb (vs federal 1,800 lb but with stricter component criteria)
- Skylights must be protected by guardrails or screens capable of withstanding twice the maximum potential load
- Floor, roof, and wall openings protected by guardrails, covers, or PFAS
- Anchorage points capable of supporting 5,000 lb per worker (or designed by qualified person at 2× maximum arresting force)
- Rescue plan required whenever PFAS is in use
- Annual inspection of PFAS components by competent person; before each use by user
